These drawings show the essential characteristics of the Guthrie interior unfolding. Note the "ski slope" of the seating, the development of the irregularly shaped balcony, the way the ceiling becomes animated by broken "cloud" forms, and the growing asymmetry of the plan as a whole. In his effort to create a visually stimulating theater environment, Rapson sought to enliven each feature of the design.
