My paintings are documentation, in detail, of each phase of my recent life.

There is an instinctual relationship between the paintings and me. They are not planned. They go through changes, dictated only by the paintings themselves. They are painted with no expectation that they will be seen or will have approval. When I have finished them and have lived intimately with them for a period of time, to me, they have a value that cannot be depicted by cash.

The painting's justified existence, if such exists, lies in the comfort, security, and pleasure I have had in creating them over a period of weeks and months.

I have no choice. I do not paint for a living, I paint for my life.
