New Frontiers in Printmaking

Print Biennial coordinator Jerald Krepps moderates a panel discussion
with local and national artists in the exhibition, exploring the changing
horizons of contemporary printmaking. The discussion addresses experiments
in combining printmaking with other media, including photography and digital
imaging. A broad range of approaches is represented by participating artists:
Lynn Lukkas, James Boyd-Brent, Laura Migliorino, Bernice Ficek-Swenson,
and Leonardo Lasansky.
Gallery Talk and Print Studio Demonstration

Come for coffee and pastries and meet Jerald Krepps, associate professor
in the department of art at the University of Minnesota and coordinator
of The Third National Print Biennial. Krepps gives a brief gallery talk,
highlighting printing methods used by artists in the exhibition. From
the museum, the group moves to the Studio Arts building on the West Bank
for demonstrations by student printmakers in lithography, woodcut, and
intaglio studios. A print demonstration of a large woodcut by M.F.A. student
Tyler Star is featured.
Artists and Educators Free Ink Day

The Highpoint Center for Printmaking invites visual artists, public and
private school educators, and college arts faculty to their inaugural
Free Ink Day event. Artistic director Cole Rogers and executive director
Carla McGrath introduce Highpoint's new facility, featuring presentations
and printmaking demonstrations, and discuss the goals of the Center with
visitors.
