This image shows a detail of the terra-cotta band on the bank which is like a plantlike ornament, predominately green in color, that enframes the two big arched windows. Larry Millet in his book, The Curve of the Arch, suggests that this green band was perhaps intended by Sullivan and Elmslie to symbolize the agrarian wealth upon which the bank depended.
