The November 5th Coalition is a broad national alliance to renew cross-partisan civic action in this election season. Harry Boyte, founder and co-director of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Citizenship and Democracy and one of the leaders of the November 5th Coalition, and other members of the national group will discuss the renewal of Minnesota’s citizenship action tradition across partisan divisions to solve civic problems. News anchor Don Shelby joins the program. Boyte will draw from his new book "The Citizen Solution: How You Can Make A Difference," in which he discusses how to move past slash-and-burn politics in this election season. Fee: $150. Students enrolled in Minneapolis or St Paul Public Schools may attend for free. Funded in partnership with Saint Paul Connections.
This week-long workshop is for students entering grades 10-12 in the fall. Teens will work with U of M architecture students to respond to an architectural design challenge through model building. No experience is necessary--only an interest in art, architecture, or design.

The Weisman is partnering with educators from the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and Walker Art Center to offer a week-long professional development workshop held at all three museum sites. Designed for grade 4-12 teachers, the sessions focus on literacy learning in and through visual art. Participants earn CEUs, with an option for graduate credit. |
