classes research partnerships

Artwork from the Weisman’s collection and exhibitions is available to University faculty for study and research.

Collections
Faculty are encouraged to use the museum collection for their research projects. For information about museum collections, faculty may contact the curatorial office at (612) 625-3561 or director of education Colleen Sheehy at (612) 625-9677 or sheeh001@umn.edu. Works from the collection that are not on view in the galleries can be studied in the museum’s Louise and Malcolm McCannel Art Study Room. To make an appointment, contact associate registrar Laura Muessig at (612) 625-9672 or muess001@umn.edu.

Exhibitions
The Weisman frequently works with University faculty as guest curators of exhibitions. Past projects include major exhibitions, such as Theatre of the Fraternity organized with Lance Brockman from the department of theatre arts and dance, and Maps as Art, with guest curator Robert Silberman from the department of art history. Publication of a major catalogue was part of each of those projects. Faculty also can curate smaller exhibitions with shorter timelines, particularly for teaching exhibitions for classes. For more information or to discuss possible projects, faculty may contact Weisman Director Lyndel King at (612) 625-9494 or wamdir@umn.edu.
